Desensitizing your llama is super important. It is very hard to work with them if you can’t touch pretty much anywhere on their body without them freaking out. As soon as your llama is used to you, and not afraid of you, it is important to just start touching all over them. Start with easy areas like the neck and slowly work your way down their back and legs and up onto their head. Once they are ok with being touched you can start picking up their feet. This will not only make training with them easier, but will also be very helpful with care items such as nail trimming. It is also great to desensitize them to having things like blankets on their backs, especially if you want to teach your llama to pack in the future.
