Harlley is a pretty unique, independent llama that I have realized actually works better without a lead. I honestly don’t remember how I discovered this, but it has made all of my training with him a lot more fun! This has now become my main focus with him, seeing how many different obstacles we can accomplish off-lead. I am also doing a lot of work with him on doing obstacles at a distance from me, i.e. telling him to go do an obstacle a ways away from me while I stay where I am. Below is a video from the Saanich fair where Harlley did a full obstacle course off-lead, and also playing around with the course at the Maple Ridge fair.
